The
Order of the
Holy Cross is a Benedictine Anglican monastic community founded in
1884 by James Otis Sargent Huntington to provide a specifically North
American expression of monasticism.
The Order is comprised of five houses in the United States, Canada, and
South Africa. The Brothers live in community under the threefold vow of
obedience, stability, and conversion to the Monastic way of life as
stated in the Rule of Saint Benedict. Their life also reflects the rule of their
Founder, Father Huntington.
The lay ministry of the friends of The Threshold include formal
association with the Order of the Holy Cross. Five of the lay leaders,
observing a rule of life, are associates of OHC through their monastery,
Mount Calvary, in Santa
Barbara, California. |
